We are honored to announce Professor Duc Pham-Hi as one of our keynote speakers for the 16th Vietnam Economist Annual Meeting (VEAM 2025).
About Professor Duc Pham-Hi
Professor Duc Pham-Hi serves as the Head of the Finance & Quantitative Engineering Department at ECE Graduate School of Engineering in Paris, France. He earned his Ph.D from Ecole Centrale de Paris, where his doctoral research focused on a numerical solution to a family of Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Institute for Political Studies of Paris, and served as the lecturer in economic policies for 4 years at the Institute.
During the 80’s, Professor Duc was Deputy Vice President at Banque de France, as head of A.I projects. In the 1990’s, he worked as a Forex Trader and Head of Research at Natexis Banque – BPCE Group, applying neural networks and successfully traded around 300 deals of 1 million USD against DEM, winning 2 out of 3 times. From 1999 to 2003, he served as the Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Global Risk Management Solutions, offering Op Resilience solutions and Start-ups valuation services. In early-2000’s, Professor Duc worked as the Senior Expert in Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) Working Group on Operational Risk, French Banking (Supervision) Commission. Then, he continued to serve as a Senior Expert in Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) Working Group on Operational Risk, French Banking (Supervision) Commission. From 2007 on, he serves as the Head of Finance and Quantitative Engineering Major at ECE Graduate School of Engineering in Paris.
Since 2010, Professor Duc has produced about 20 double blind reviewed research papers, which were accepted in international frontier conferences such as the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy, the EconoModelling Society, the Workshops on Economics with Heterogeneous Interacting Agents, the Forecasting Financial Markets conferences, and the Computational & Financial Econometrics Society. He has also served as Editor for Special Issues of French Financial Economics Review, and Chapters in Springer, Wiley & sons, and Elsevier Sciences books.
