Prof. Quoc-Anh Do – Keynote speaker for VEAM 2022 Quoc-Anh (Q.-A.) Do’s research interests cover a broad range of applied microeconomics at the intersections with political science and sociology, in the fields of political economy, development economics, social networks and economics of culture. His contributions include notably topics on the primordial influence of capital cities on governance, media, and conflicts; issues of misgovernance, favoritism, and corruption; and the role of social networks in predicting and shaping individual preferences, norms, and beliefs. Q.-A.’s work has appeared on several of the most broadly known general-interest economics journals, including the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, and the Journal of the European Economic Association, and has been widely cited in related fields. Currently a Visiting Associate Professor and Ford Center Fellow at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, he has recently been appointed Associate Professor of Economics at Monash University. Q.-A. was previously on the faculty at Sciences Po, Paris (2012-2021) and Singapore Management University (2008-2012). He is a native of Hanoi, and was educated in Vietnam and France before obtaining his PhD in economics at Harvard University.
