The ninth Vietnam Economists Annual Meeting
VEAM 2016
Introduction
The Vietnam Economists Annual Meeting (VEAM) is an annual meeting organized for economists and social researchers around the world to present their scholarly studies and works. This year, Da Nang University of Economics, the Development and Policies Research Center (DEPOCEN), the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), the Foreign Trade University (FTU) and the Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam will host the Ninth Vietnam Economists Annual Meeting (VEAM 2016).
VEAM 2016 will take place on 11th – 12th August 2016 in Da Nang City, Vietnam.
VEAM brings together economists, social scientists and PhD students from Vietnam and all over the world to exchange their ideas on economics, finance and management. The meeting provides an opportunity to nurture a worldwide network of Vietnamese economists and other social scientists, expand and consolidate cooperation in scientific researches. It is an opportunity for Vietnamese universities, economics, finance and management schools, governmental agencies and companies to learn and experience high quality scholarly research. The meeting will include a variety of other activities, including informal discussions between junior and senior researchers, presentations by leading international economists, and distinguished guests.
The four keynote speakers for VEAM 2016 are:
- Markus Brueckner (Australian National University).
- Duc-Tho Nguyen (Griffith University).
- Makoto Tawada (Aichi Gakuin University) .
- Wei Zhou (Paris Business School).
The conference is now open to registration and calling for papers (see Workshop Program, Call for Papers and Registration page for details). Registration is free for presenters of accepted papers. Financial support for accommodations is available on a limited and first come first served basis. Priority is given to PhD students and early career researchers.

Announcement
A special session on “How to help improve the quality of economics research and teaching in the economics universities in Vietnam” will be held in the afternoon of August 11, 2016.
The session will be moderated by Professor Le Van Cuong with experience-sharing by other professors around the world. Time slots will also be allocated to PhD candidates so that they could present their research proposals at this session for constructive comments and inputs by veteran researchers.
